Did you know November is National adoption awareness month? Let me tell you about my experience with adoption… 12 years ago she was just another little girl in my preschool class and I was a partying, college student not ready to be a mom at 19. But over the next few months my life changed in ways I’m so thankful. God worked miracles in my life and changed me from that wild, college girl to an amazing young mom who had no clue what she was doing but trusted God! This little girl was made for me. She was put into another mommy so that I could one day when God and I were ready become her forever mom. I fought long and hard to be sure I would never lose her even if my marriage to her father didn’t work. From the age of 3 she was my daughter, my whole heart. Adoption wasn’t easy but it was worth it. Today, 12 years later, we have been through some tough days including divorce. But one thing remains the same and that is my love for her and having her home with me to raise into an educated, gorgeous young woman. She has changed my life. She showed me love like I had never experienced before. She made me a mom and every day I thank God for her, even on the tough days. She will never know how much I love and appreciate her until one day she becomes a mom herself. So thank God for adoption. I’m reminded daily of how thankful I am for that tiny of piece of paper even though we both knew God made you just for me. If you have ever felt it on your heart to adopt you should do just that! Now 12 years later I’m expecting another baby that I was told would never happen and I’m so thankful he or she has a big sister to love and help take care of him or her. Thank you for being a part of our family!
